Culture part 2

Culture Shock- At the Age 14 I was finally able to leave NYC and got the chance to live in Richmond VA. I lived out there for 6 years, at first I felt like I just didn't belong. As I started making friends out there I started to see how different they was from my NYC friends. In the city its like everybody from the hood are so shallow and materialistic. When every new pair of Jordans come out everybody has to have them. It wasn't like that in VA, they didn't care about what you wore they actually wanted to get to know you for who you was and not for what you wear. It took me quite some time to stop judging people on their clothes.

Symbols- The Eagle is the symbol for United States of American, because of its long life great strenght and majestic looks, and also because it was then believed to exist only on this conitnent. The eagle also represent freedom

Belief-  I grew up believing that there is a God, and that if you live your life the way he want you to then you will be sent to heaven and also another thing I believe in is

Something my Mother Value a lot. She constantly telling me if you want something you have to work for it and if you cant get it your not working harder to get it.

Folkway- Something my family always teasing me about. I'm known to pick my nose any and every where

Xenophobia- Talk about gays which I have been a victim because I am not like the typical dude from the block. I don't play sports but honestly all this did for me was teach me to be a stronger person

Behavior- My behavior is not influenced by my surroundings and even thought I have been exposed to crime, drugs etc I do not want to ever be a part of that lifestyle

Counter Culture- Drug dealers that go against the grain and justify it by saying "I had to do what  I gotta do also

Dialect- Another funny thing about growing up in the BX you learn all the slang which is Multiculterism because not only blacks use slang but its an a very diverse dialect.
